Changes to electoral boundaries

Posted on Oct 28, 2017
Thanks to Keith Whitham for the wording below (SPAN will have this in the December issue but that will only allow a very brief time for responding)
The Boundary Commission for England reports that –

Our Revised proposals, published on 17 October 2017, set out the new constituencies in London. You have until 11 December 2017 to tell us what you think of them

There is an excellent map available on the website below. You can view the originally proposed, revised and current boundaries by clicking on the button marked “boundaries” and selecting which boundaries you want to see. You will recall that it was proposed to shift some of Spring Park into Beckenham, part of Bromley, for national elections whilst remaining in Croydon for Local Government. Bromley is an area which few of our residents related to, and it would have meant amongst other things that we would be represented by a Bromley MP who may have little relationship to, or influence with, our Local Authority, Croydon. Many objections were submitted and the current proposals seem to have listened; if I read the map rightly, we now seem to be back in the existing Spring Park  area, part of Croydon.

Neither our MP, nor SPAN, nor SPRA’s website or emails have let anyone know this news. I feel SPRA should let residents know.   The website address is

or of course Google will find it for you.
