Transport for London have asked us to circulate an important communication on their behalf:
TfL: We want to ensure that buses remain an attractive way for people to move around while continuing to also ensure that those who wish to walk and cycle can do so safely and with confidence.
The A232 is a busy and important route, connecting the Bromley and Croydon with eleven bus routes operating along this corridor, including Superloop 5 (SL5). Unfortunately, we have seen bus speeds reduce in this area, which means people may be less likely to opt for using buses as their mode of transport.
We are exploring potential opportunities for improvements along the A232 corridor between Sandilands and West Wickham to improve bus journey times and reduce road danger. On this potential scheme we are trialling a new approach to our public engagement and consultation, where local communities will be involved in our decision-making process at an earlier stage.
The community discussion is made up of:
- A community workshop, taking place in January. We will invite 24 local people to help shape future changes for walking, cycling, and public transport in the area
- Have Your Say page with community pinboard tool. This allows all community members and stakeholders to share their suggestions and ideas about a variety of topics, including crossing the road, pavements and accessibility
More information, including the pinboard and expressing interest for the workshop is available at: https://haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/a232-healthy-streets. The page will be open for feedback until Monday 8 February 2026.
